Demo of Baik in Indonesia

Baik is offline AI for Indonesian classrooms.

We dream of a tomorrow where we forget who should live in it.

We were told tomorrow was flying cars, spaceships, and machines that could finish a day’s work in a second.

Give them some kind of tomorrow. That, at least is, something we could agree on.

But tomorrow never was the classroom that was a biology lab at nine, math classroom at eleven, and principal’s office at three.

Tomorrow never was the teacher trained in History teaching Chemistry and serving as the Assistant Principal.

Tomorrow never was the internet that cut out 9 hours of the day and cell tower 20km away.

We keep imagining tomorrow from places like Silicon Valley, where the wind kisses transplanted poppies and olive trees.

And forget that the same wind passes under the corroded steel roof of an Indonesian classroom.

Demo of Baik in Indonesia

Baik was founded by James Che to provide offline AI to schools in Indonesia without internet access. Indonesian classrooms, especially in rural regions, often relying on insufficient resources to keep up with demand. Teacher juggled multiple unfamiliar subjects and students' questions went unanswered. Baik was made to provide AI that went beyond the last stretches of reliable internet, resting offline on each student's laptop.

Baik leverages offline-optimized AI models to produce insights on educational content. For example, it can review concepts taught in class with students or provide lecture notes for teachers before a class.

Offline use is key to Baik's design, and its core lies in compressed (quantized) AI models specialized in Bahasa Indonesia interactions.

Ultimately, Baik is made for the Indonesian schools that internet forums, online chatbots, and digital textbooks cannot reach.

Baik aims to connect the thread between technical promise and real-world use—hence the name, Baik ("baik" means "good").
